French unicorn Exotec launches the next generation of its Skypod system: a more compact robot, a robot-to-robot picking station, 50% more throughput per station and up to 30% denser storage.
What changes
- New, more compact Skypod robot and denser storage.
- 50% more throughput at a single workstation.
- Up to 30% more storage density than the previous generation.
- One system covers each picking, case picking, sequencing and packing.
### Background On February 6, 2025, Exotec announced the commercial launch of the next generation of Skypod, its robotic storage and order fulfillment system. Founded in France, the company has its robots climb the racks to fetch totes, without conventional conveyors or stacker cranes. This version redesigns the robot, the workstations and the software. ### Specifications - A more compact Skypod robot, a robot-to-robot picking workstation and a high-throughput Exchanger. - 50% more throughput at a single workstation and up to 30% more storage density than the previous generation. - Supports each and case picking, with integrated buffer, sequencing and pick-and-pack, avoiding separate conveyors, sorters and packing stations. - Exotec reports more than 20 projects worth $400 million signed with this generation, including Oxford Industries, Grainger and E.Leclerc. ### Why it matters Exotec is one of the few European champions of logistics robotics facing US and Chinese giants. At E.Leclerc Seclin, the drive-through customer journey went from 10-15 minutes to under 5 minutes, according to its manager. ### Key takeaways A generation that aims to cover most warehouse processes with a single robotic system.
