Fourier launches the N1, a 1.3 m, 38 kg humanoid whose bill of materials, blueprints, assembly instructions and core control code are released openly. It runs at up to 3.5 m/s and lasts over two hours.

What changes

  • A humanoid with open hardware and core software.
  • 1.3 m, 38 kg and a top speed of 3.5 m/s.
  • Over two hours of runtime per charge.
  • Advanced motion-control modules promised as open source in stages.

### Background On April 11, 2025, Shanghai-based Fourier, known for its GR-1 and GR-2 humanoids, launched the N1, a compact humanoid at the core of an open-source strategy. The company releases the complete bill of materials, structural blueprints, assembly instructions, core control systems and foundational software code. It plans to open more advanced motion-control and coordination modules in stages. ### Specifications | Item | Announced value | |---|---| | Height | 1.3 m | | Weight | 38 kg | | Top speed | 3.5 m/s | | Runtime | over 2 hours per charge | | Openness | bill of materials, blueprints, assembly, core control, software code | | Offer | from self-assembly kits to more complete platforms, prices not disclosed | ### Why it matters "We hope to attract more participants in co-creating an ecosystem by lowering technical barriers," says Cai Yusheng, Fourier's R&D director. Publishing the blueprints of a robot that is actually manufactured lets labs and students reproduce, modify and compare their work on a common base. ### Key takeaways The N1 is one of the first Chinese humanoid platforms opened down to the hardware. It complements Fourier's range before the GR-3, focused on care and companionship, arrived in August 2025.
