### What changes On 29 May 2025, six weeks after acquiring Pollen Robotics, Hugging Face announced two open-source robots, including HopeJR, a full-size humanoid developed with The Robot Studio. The robot can walk and manipulate objects. Hugging Face opened a waitlist and targeted first shipments by the end of 2025. CEO Clem Delangue stressed openness: "These robots are open source, so anyone can assemble, rebuild, understand how they work." He added that their affordable price should keep robotics from being dominated by a few big players with black-box systems. ### Specifications | Item | Detail | |---|---| | Format | Full-size humanoid | | Degrees of freedom | 66 actuated | | Target price | About $3,000 | | Partner | The Robot Studio | | Licence | Open source | ### Why it matters HopeJR brings Hugging Face's AI playbook to hardware: open, cheap building blocks versus closed platforms.
