At CES 2026, Roborock unveils the Saros Rover, the first robot vacuum with a wheel-leg architecture: it climbs stairs, including curved or carpeted ones, and cleans each step. No release date has been announced.
What changes
- First robot vacuum with a wheel-leg architecture.
- Each wheel-leg rises and lowers independently: small jumps, turns, sudden stops.
- Climbs straight, curved or carpeted stairs and cleans each step.
- In development, with no confirmed release date.
### Background On January 6, 2026, at CES in Las Vegas, Roborock unveiled the Saros Rover, a robot vacuum with two wheels mounted on articulated legs. This wheel-leg architecture, inspired by wheeled quadruped robots, lets it climb stairs and clean each step along the way, the main limitation of robot vacuums in multi-story homes. ### Specifications - Wheel-leg architecture: each wheel-leg rises and lowers independently, enabling small jumps, sharp turns, sudden stops and direction changes. - Handles straight or curved stairs, carpeted steps with beveled edges and complex thresholds between rooms. - Navigation through AI algorithms, motion sensors and 3D spatial information. - Shown alongside the new Saros 20, Saros 20 Sonic and Qrevo Curv 2 Flow, and the RockMow X1 mower. - In development: no confirmed release date. ### Why it matters The Saros Rover shows the convergence between home robotics and legged robotics. At the same CES, Dreame also showed a stair-climbing solution, a sign of a race among Chinese makers to get robot vacuums beyond the ground floor. ### Key takeaways A prototype showcase more than a launch: this entry dates the announcement, not availability.
