- Top speed of 5.8 m/s, close to industrial robots.
- OmniCore controller and RobotStudio and Wizard Easy Programming software.
- Operational less than an hour after unboxing.
### Background On April 22, 2026, ABB Robotics launched PoWa worldwide, a family of high-speed, high-payload cobots meant to close the gap between collaborative and industrial robots. The range had first been introduced for the Chinese market on July 2, 2025, alongside the Lite+ and next-generation IRB 1200 families. ### Specifications - Six payload classes, from 7 to 30 kg. - Top speed of 5.8 m/s. - OmniCore controller; integration with RobotStudio and Wizard Easy Programming software. - Operational less than an hour after unboxing. - Target applications: machine tending, palletizing, screwdriving and arc welding. ### Why it matters ABB expects the cobot market to grow 20% a year through 2028. According to Andrea Cassoni, head of collaborative robots at ABB, cobots are growing faster than conventional industrial robots, driven by SMEs seeking more performance without industrial-robot complexity. The launch comes during the announced acquisition of ABB Robotics by SoftBank. ### Key takeaways PoWa puts ABB in direct competition with fast cobots from Universal Robots and FANUC in the medium-to-heavy payload segment.
